Investigation of Attempted Murder and Homicide in Danby, Vt.

A 2003 Granville graduate and former Granville resident was killed during an incident in Danby, Vt., on Sunday.

After investigating, Vermont State Police learned that 28-year-old Aaron Allen, of Hudson Falls, arrived at the residence of his ex-girlfriend early Sunday morning, where he attacked and stabbed the 22-year-old woman multiple times, according to a press release.

The female, who is being treated for stab wounds at Rutland Regional Medical Center and is expected to survive, currently has an active restraining order from the state of New York against Allen. Allen also has criminal charges pending in New York, involving this same female, for an incident that occurred in April for offenses including unlawful imprisonment, Vermont State Police said.

During the attack, the victim’s current boyfriend, 24-year-old Michael White, witnessed what was occurring and shot Allen twice with a rifle.

Allen, who was also transferred to Rutland Regional Medical Center, succumbed there to his injuries. The identity of the female is being withheld per policy, as a victim of domestic violence.

The incident is under investigation, and anyone with relative information is asked to contact Vermont State Police at 802-773-9101.
