Annual Ox Roast next weekend

One of the community’s most beloved and delectable traditions returns to the Whitehall Methodist Church next weekend.

The annual Ox Roast and Auction will be held at the church on Saturday, June 27, and will include a flea market, auction, and of course, pit-roasted beef.

The festivities kick off at 10 a.m. with the opening of the outdoor flea market. Guests will be able to find used clothing, toys, household items, RADA Cutlery and much more for sale. A snack bar, including drinks, hot dogs and a large assortment of baked goods will open at 11 a.m. and hold hungry shoppers over until the beef is ready to eat.

Dinner, which consists of prime beef, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, cole slaw, rolls, and dessert will be served beginning at noon and will continue until 6 p.m. or sold out, which ever comes first. Take-outs will be available at 11 a.m. The cost of dinner is $11 for adults and take-outs. Children younger than 12 eat for $5.

At 1 p.m., an auction featuring a variety of items and gift certificates will commence. Items can be previewed beginning at 10 a.m. The auction will once again be conducted by Nicholas Auctions.

Anyone who would like to volunteer their time to help with dinner, or who would like to donate items for the flea market or auction, is encouraged to contact the church at 499-0851 for more information.
