Skeeter Morse to play Thursday concert

T he forecast is sunny and clear, and village officials are hoping it stays that way through Thursday, so the summer concert series can take place.

Concert fans should get to Veterans Park this week as the season is wrapping up, with only two more shows to go.

Presenting classics from the 50s and 60s this Thursday evening will be Skeeter Morse. A Granville native, Morse regularly produces shows at the Little Theater on the Farm in Fort Edward and has been recording for almost 20 years.

At the event, local girl scouts will sell hot dogs, candy, baked goods, soda and water, and Stewart’s Shops will sell ice cream. There will be 50/50 tickets for sale, with proceeds helping support the concerts and other village events.

Next week for the series on Thursday, Aug. 29, local band Freedom Hawk will make up their show, which was canceled due to rain.

In addition to the regular series, the Granville Town Band, consisting of area musicians performing marches and concert band specialties, will offer one more Sunday evening performance on Aug. 25 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

All of the concerts, which take place in Veterans Park from 7 to 9 p.m., are free and open to the public.  Check for weather cancelations on the sign in front of the park or on the Sentinel’s Facebook page.
