Man charged with providing teen with drugs

A local man was arrested last month on felony drug charges and sexual misconduct.

Allen A. Rice, 17, of Broadway, was charged with criminal sale of marijuana, a felony, and misdemeanor charges of sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police allege that Rice provided an underage girl with marijuana and engaged in sexual relations with the youth who was 14 years old.

The drug charges were elevated to a felony because the girl was a minor.

He was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after he arrived at the police station and was found to have the drug with him at the time.

Rice, who is on probation, was arraigned in Fort Ann Town and sent to Washington County Jail for lack of bail.

The investigation was handled by Whitehall Patrolmen Richard Rizzo, Jeffrey Grenier, Investigator Frank Hunt and Chief Matt Dickinson.
