Arthur Baker, 58

 

OBIT Art BakerArthur J. Baker, 58, of Las Vegas died suddenly after a short illness at University Medical Center on Friday, Oct. 25. He was born April 24, 1955 in Granville, N.Y. and was the son of Alice (McGrath) Baker and the late Arthur L. Baker of Raceville, N.Y. He graduated from Granville Central High School in 1973 and Siena College in 1977 with a degree in accounting. He worked for many years with a firm in Rutland, Vt., as a C.P.A. before moving to Las Vegas were he pursued an independent practice.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Valerie “Mitzy” (Robinson) Baker of Las Vegas, his mother Alice Baker of Raceville, his son Jonathan M. Baker of Las Vegas, his two daughters, Stephanie L. (Baker) Nassar along with her husband Raj Nassar of Las Vegas, and Valerie A. (Baker) Moore along with her husband Jason Moore of Bomoseen, Vt.; two brothers, Daniel S. Baker along with his wife Kim (Sheridan) Baker, and Thomas L. Baker along with his wife Shirley (Blackmer) Baker; and one sister JoAnne A. Baker all of Raceville, as well as nine grandchildren, his father-in-law William Robinson of Las Vegas, nine brothers and sisters-in-law, 17 nieces and nephews  and a number of cousins.

He is predeceased by his father Arthur L. Baker and his mother-in-law Leona (French) Robinson.

Calling hours will be held at Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville N.Y. Sunday November 3, from 2 to 5 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 23 Bulkley Ave., Granville, N.Y. at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4.  Interment will follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Middle Granville, N.Y. A gathering will be held at The Forum Restaurant, 47 East Potter Ave., Granville, N.Y. following the service. Donations in Art’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 734 US Route 4 East, Rutland, Vt. 05701. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert M. King Funeral Home.
