Boy Scouts to host food drive Saturday

Whall BS Food DriveLocal Boy Scouts will be canvassing the streets of Whitehall this weekend seeking to help the community’s hungry.

On Saturday, members of Troop 83 will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items for the Whitehall Food Pantry.

The local Scouts are asking residents to place non-perishable food items in bags or boxes on their porches or near their mailboxes. The Scouts dropped off bags at many village residences earlier this week, but any bag or box would work. Members ask that all bags be placed outside by 8 a.m. on Nov. 16.

Members of Troop 83 will also pick up unwanted bags of recycled bottles and cans.

Residents whose donations are missed can call Tammy Stevens at 857-7235 to arrange for the food to be picked up.

The following day, on Sunday, Nov. 17, the Scouts will host a bake sale from 8 a.m. until sold out at the CVS Pharmacy on Route 4. Anybody who would like to make a food donation can so do during that time as well.

Boy Scout Troop 83 is sponsored by American Legion Post 83.
