New clothing drop-off shed in Granville

G ranville Baptist Church is now sponsoring a clothing drop-off shed as a fundraiser and service to the community.

On Jan. 27, St. Pauly Textile installed one of its clothing collection sheds behind the Church at 23 Quaker St. for the community to use as a drop off for clothing. The clothing will be distributed free all over the United States and world to those who can use it.

Granville Baptist Church will in turn receive $40 for every 1,000 pounds of clothing that is donated.

This program keeps clothing out of the landfill, helps out those in need, helps out the church with funding and helps the public by providing a convenient place for residents to deposit their useable but no longer needed clothing.

St. Pauly is an upstate New York based company and is a member of the Better Business Bureau. St. Pauly collects useable clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, linens, blankets and drapes. In 2012, more than 59 million garments were distributed to an estimated 7.5 million people all over the world through the St. Pauly program.

St. Pauly is family run and operated. It was founded by Joe DeGeorge and Paul Callarame 14 years ago. Joe’s children, Joey, Ben and Ted now run the company with Joe.

St. Pauly currently has over 800 clothing drop-off sheds all across New York and parts of Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and Ohio. For the complete list of sheds and more information about St. Pauly, visit stpaulytextile.com.
