Sharon Ruth Moyer, 75

S haron Ruth Moyer, age 75 , passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Sharon was a graduate of Granville High School. She met and married the love of her life, Arthur F. Moyer, on November 27, 1958, Thanksgiving Day. Every year of marriage after that they spent Thanksgiving Day being grateful for the gift of their love. When they met, Sharon was working at the Glens Falls Insurance Company. But as their marriage grew to include children, her “job” turned to that of wife and mother. She was employed in later years as a correspondent for the Granville Sentinel and when the children were grown as a supervisor for the NEWCO program which was the predecessor to Meals on Wheels.

Sharon loved to travel and they did so throughout the United States. Most recently they were able to become snowbirds and spend winters in Florida. But even if a long trip wasn’t in the cards she loved just going for rides in the car. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and knitting.

She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Ladies Auxiliary of the North Granville Hose Co, and the Auxiliary of the Castleton Legion Post 50.

Sharon was predeceased by her parents and a great grandchild Madison. Survivors are her husband Arthur, her two sons: Arthur J Moyer and his companion Donna Larson of Whitehall and Gordon B Moyer of N. Granville. She was also blessed with two grandchildren: Jason Moyer and his companion Audrey Zellars and Nicole Moyer and her companion Jason Lloyd. She is also survived by her brothers: Ronald of Granville, Raymond of Florida and Walter of Scotia.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 10 AM at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY with the Rev. James Peterson presiding. Burial will follow in the North Granville Cemetery. The family will continue the celebration of Sharon’s life at the American Legion Post 323 on Columbus St. in Granville following the services.
