A former Granville resident was killed Saturday night in a motor vehicle accident on I-87 in Albany.
Matthew Fiske, 43, was operating a 2006 Dodge Viper when he struck a guard rail, lost control of the car and careened down an embankment and struck a tree.
The accident occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday night in the southbound lane of I-87, a half-mile south of the Twin Bridges.
Fiske was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 45-year old Colleen Seidel of Clifton Park was taken to Albany Medical Center for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Fiske was a former Granville High School graduate and attended college at SUNY Albany and Clarkson. He was the owner of Fiske Construction in Schenectady and lived in Rotterdam.
He leaves behind two children.
Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
