Marion M. Watrous Donaldson, 94

OBIT DonaldsonMarion M. Watrous Donaldson, 94, of Adams Street went into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at The Orchard Nursing Home in Granville.
Marion was born in Whitehall on July 21, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Clifford and Alice (Huntley) Watrous.
She attended school in Clemons, and she worked at the Whitehall Silk Mill for many years. She was a member of Faith Chapel Assembly of God for approximately 40 years and was a faithful servant of God. She enjoyed participating in church activities, including Bible studies and prayer meetings and she enjoyed listening to Christian music and teachings. She helped start P.I.P. – the first local preschool program; and she also volunteered for the Red Cross and was awarded Volunteer of the Year. For many years, she visited shut-ins as well as people in nursing homes. She was the first president of the Whitehall Senior Citizens and she enjoyed baking.
She was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Alice (Huntley) Watrous; a son, Clarence (Jay) Donaldson, Jr.; three sisters – Laura Saladin, Helen Denno, Gladys BiCoco; and a brother, Roy Watrous.
Marion was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, who loved her family dearly. She is survived by her children, including: Arthur and Doris Donaldson of Whitehall, Jay’s wife – Linda Donaldson of Whitehall, William and Helen Donaldson of Whitehall, Norman Donaldson of Indian Lake, Joseph and Paula Donaldson of Fair Haven, Vt., Jim and Chris Donaldson of Granville, Leslie and Debbie Donaldson of Whitehall, Cheryl Blair of Whitehall, Roy Donaldson of Mass., Laurie Donaldson of Whitehall, and James and Lisa French of Granville; 21 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; as well as one sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Steven Tucker of Schenectady; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, NY on Friday, Aug. 29, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Greenmount Cemetery in Whitehall. Following the graveside service, a memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. at Faith Chapel Assembly of God, 9823 State Route 4, Whitehall. Family and friends are invited immediately following the memorial service to a time of fellowship and refreshments in the church hall. Her three favorite psalms will be recited at her memorial service and include Psalm 23 The Divine Shepherd and Psalm 91 and 121 Assurance of God’s protection.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Orchard Nursing Home as well as Dr. Mihindu and Dr. Crossman for their kindness and support over this past year.
