After being held to a single goal in each of its first two games, the boys soccer team finally found some offense in a 9-3 loss to Mechanicville on Monday.
Juniors Kyle Suchan, Zach Vanderminden and Jon Halter all scored second half goals for Granville, but couldn’t overcome a first half surge by Mechanicville.
“The put the game away in the first half by tallying six goals,” head coach Day Brayton said. “We rallied in the second and found the net three times, but it was too little, too late.”
Eric Krasuki tallied five goals for Mechanicville, three in the first half and two more in the second half to give the Red Raiders all the scoring they would need.
Jonathan Morrow recorded 6 saves in the net for Granville.
The loss came several days after Granville fired 10 shots on goal in a 10-1 loss to Tamarac last Thursday on the Horde’s home field.
“Tamarac exploited our inexperience and effectively utilized the counter,” Brayton said.
Zach Horton and Danny Nealon each had hat tricks for Tamarac.
Suchan tallied a late goal for Granville.
Last Tuesday, Granville dressed only 12 players in a 12-1 loss to Greenwich.
Three players scored multiple goals for Greenwich in Wasaren League opener for both teams.
Dumanni Williams scored Granville’s lone goal.
Granville (0-3) will travel to Stillwater this evening. The game starts at 7 p.m.
