Young team looking to build foundation

The Whitehall bowling team is looking to learn as the season progresses.

First year Coach Sheri Wescott said that her rather young team is looking to learn with her as they work toward some common goals this season.

“There is not a lot of experience on this team,” Wescott said, “I’m a first year coach and a lot of these kids are first year bowlers, we are looking to learn a lot of the basics this season.”

Wescott said her team has some bowlers that have impressed her early on this season.

“My senior Adam Hayes has been a good leader and seventh graders Jacob Gosselin is really coming on strong,” she said.

Although the team may not be incredibly competitive, Wescott is very optimistic that this will be a great learning experience for not only the team, but herself, as a coach.

“We are not really a team that other teams are going to be afraid to bowl against,” she said, “We are going to go out there, learn the game, learn how to respect the game and our opponents, and most importantly have fun while we are doing it.”

The co-ed bowling team plays all of its home matches at the Elks Lodge 1491, located on the intersection of Williams Street and Elks Way.

The bowling team’s next home match is tomorrow, at home against Hoosick Valley.
