Granville’s sprinters fared well in the first indoor track meet of the season on Dec. 6.
Grant Gallagher won the boys 45 meter dash and Brianna Kelly finished fifth in the girls 45 meter dash.
Gallagher ran the race in 5.6 seconds, besting runners from much larger schools. He also finished third in the 300 meter dash with a time of 42 seconds.
Kelly recorded a time of 6.7 seconds, about a quarter second off the pace of winner Brenda Santana of Amsterdam.
The boys throwers also performed well as Gavyn LeClair and Adam Hastings both finished within the top 10. LeClair recorded a throw of 36 feet, good for sixth place, while Hastings was eighth after a throw of 35 feet, 2.5 inches. Joshua
Shaw finished outside the top 10 with a throw of 29 feet, 5 inches.
Ryan Dalaba finished eighth in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 5:24.6 and Giovanni Perrillo was tenth in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:27.9. He also competed in the long jump, leaping a distance of 11 feet, 10 inches. Teammate Nicholas Koutrakos recorded a distance of just over 13 feet.
Laryssa Zovistoski competed in three events for Granville, finishing seventh in the high jump with a distance of 4 feet; eighth in the triple jump (24 feet, 5 inches) and ninth in the long jump (12 feet, 2.5 inches).
Alex Birchmore recorded a time of 4:23.4 in the 1,000 meter run and Cheyenne Oakman threw the shot put 21 feet, 11.5 inches, good for 12th place.
As a team the boys finished tied for sixth out of seven teams while the girls were seventh out of seven teams.
The team is back in action this Saturday at Union College, beginning at 1:45 p.m.
