Wrestlers get first league win

Granville’s wrestling team picked up its first league win of the season last Thursday as it defeated Cambridge 54-22.

Horde wrestlers collected two pins and seven forfeits as it improved to 1-2 in the league.

Zack Haskins (113) and Dustin Evans (138) won by pin for Granville.

Haskins was able to pin his opponent with only 12 second remaining in the match.

Granville picked up forfeits at 285, 220, 170, 126, 120, 106, and 99 pounds. Both Granville and Cambridge had to forfeit matches at 145 and 132 pounds.

On Jan. 6 Granville traveled to Corinth were it fell just short in a 48-42 loss.

Granville actually had a very good chance for the win, but was forced to forfeit the final three matches of the night.

Jody Hermance (220), Bailey Daigle (170) and Anthony Arbuckle (182) all had pins for Granville.

Hermance had the evening’s fastest pin, defeating Kevin Musco in 14 seconds.

Only eight of the 15 matches were contested as Granville forfeited four matches and Corinth three.

Granville (4-10, overall) will host Tamarac tonight at 6 p.m. and Whitehall next Thursday at 6 p.m.
