Granville’s boys’ basketball team played one of its best halves of basketball but was unable to contain an undefeated Hoosick Falls team in the second half.
The Panthers outscored Granville 31-16 in the second half on their way to a 57-40 victory.
Connor McCart led Hoosick Falls with 26 points.
Jacob Young led Granville with 13 points while Cordell Kilburn chipped in with 11 points.
After being outscored 15-5 in the first quarter, Granville exploded for 19 points in the second quarter to cut the lead to 26-24 at the half.
The Horde kept the game close in the third quarter and went into the final quarter trailing by only 5 points. The Panthers, however, held Granville to only 6 points in the fourth as they improved to 8-0 on the season.
The loss came two days after Stillwater defeated a visiting Granville team 60-45.
Mitchell Wayand led three Warriors in double-digit scoring with 19 points as hit four 3-pointers.
Matt Fuller scored a game-high 18 points for Granville while Kilburn and Young scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Warriors got off to a fast start, outscoring Granville 25-15 in the first half. The Horde played better in the second half, but were outscored in all four quarters as Stillwater cruised to the win.
Granville (1-5, 3-7) will travel to Tamarac tomorrow night. The game will start at 6:30 p.m.
