Girls’ upended at Hadley-Luzerne

Hadley-Luzerne (1-10, 2-11) cemented its first league win of the season, downing the Whitehall girls’ basketball team 49-27 last Friday.

The Railroaders were doomed by a 22-5 second quarter, which saw the Eagles expand an eight point lead into a 25 point lead.

Whitehall hung tough in the second half. The third quarter saw both teams score four points, and Whitehall outscored Hadley-Luzerne in the fourth quarter, by an 11-8 margin. However, Whitehall could not overcome the first half deficit.

Caity Sandford and Grace Alexander led the Railroaders in scoring, with eight points each.

Jaynie Ellis led the way for the Eagles, with 16 points, she was followed by Kaitlin Milligan, who scored nine, and Reagan Kelley, who added seven.

The loss drops Whitehall to 0-12 in the league and 0-14 overall. Whitehall travels to Fort Ann (5-7, 5-9) tomorrow, JV tips at 5:30 p.m. and varsity will follow at 7 p.m.
