Daigle to run for village trustee

Next month’s village election in Granville will be contested after all.

Judith Daigle submitted an independent nomination petition and will seek a spot on the village board of trustees. Daigle was the only candidate to submit a petition by the deadline last Tuesday .

At stake on this year’s ballot are four-year terms for the mayor, two village trustees and a village justice.

Those positions are currently held by Mayor Brian LaRose, Trustees Dean Hyatt and Paul Labas and Judge Roger Forando.

All four are seeking reelection.

Daigle will vie with Hyatt and Labas for one of two open seats on the village board.

LaRose and Forando are virtually ensured of being reelected, barring the emergence of a write-in candidate.

The elections will be held on Wednesday, March 18. Village elections are typically held on the third Tuesday of March, but that conflicts this year with the St. Patrick’s Day holiday so the elections are being pushed back a day.

The polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m. at the village offices on Quaker Street.
