Whitehall/Fort Ann wrestlers raise $600 for cancer research

Senior wrestler Julian Barber’s charity wrestling idea caught on with his teammates during the season, to Julian Barberthe tune of $600.

Barber, at the start of the 2014-15 season came up with what he called the “Pin to Win Lymphoma Challenge,” in which fans of Whitehall/Fort Ann wrestling could pledge to donate a set amount of money for each pin the team recorded.

“So if you pledged 50 cents and the team ends the season with 100 pins, you would donate 50 dollars to the cause,” Barber said.

The idea came to Barber’s head to do something to combat lymphoma after former Whitehall wrestling coach Paul Wager passed away from the disease at age 64.
