Granville tennis opens with win

Granville’s tennis team opened its season Monday afternoon with a win over Whitehall.

The Horde swept both doubles matches and won four of the singles matches in the 6-1 victory.

Alexis Smith got Granville rolling early defeating Alex Wood 10-6 in a matchup of both teams’ number ones.

Matt Bixby was dominant in his match, defeating Steven Gosselin 10-0 and Kyle LaPlante defeated Matt Austin 10-2. LeAnn Rees also picked up a win in a tight 10-9 match with Brent Williams.

The doubles team of Phil Myer and Brad McEachron won the first varsity match, defeated John Hollister and Beoncia Chaplin 10-1. Israel Rees and Seth Browe defeated Conner Lavoie and Zach Eaton 10-3.

Granville (1-0) will host Greenwich tomorrow at 4 p.m.
