Baseball routs Corinth, Salem, Bolton

The Whitehall baseball team bounced back from a non-league loss to Fort Ann by blowing out Corinth, Derek Thomas rips a basehit diown the left field lineSalem and Bolton.

Last Thursday, the Railroaders hosted Corinth in a non-league game and thanks to an eight run first inning, were able to rout the Tomahawks 17-4. In the first inning, the Tomahawks struggled to find the strike zone from the mound and when they did, the Railroaders made solid contact.

Julian Barber went four-for-four at the plate, with three RBIs and Tyler Thomas had two RBIs to help the Railroaders’ cause.

On the hill, Justin Hoagland went six innings, allowing only five hits and securing the win.

Whitehall scored in every inning that it batted, except the sixth.

Corinth only put up two runs in the second and two more in the seventh.

On Saturday, the Railroaders followed-up the Thursday win with an even more impressive game, dominating Salem 25-1 at East Field, in their first league game of the year.

Pretty much every Railroader got into the offensive mix in Saturday’s game. Derek Thomas led the way with five hits and seven RBIs, while his brother Tyler added five hits, five runs and five RBIs.

Extra-base hits were the key for the Railroaders who had four doubles and four triples in the win.

Dan St. Clair struck out six and allowed only three hits over the course of five innings to record his first varsity win in his first varsity start.

On Monday, the Railroaders continued their diamond domination, with a 19-2 win over visiting Bolton.

The Railroaders were propelled by a 10 run first inning, which saw them nearly go through the batting order three times.

Derek Thomas got the win on the mound, striking out nine and allowing only three hits.

At the plate, Hoagland had two RBIs and three runs scored, while Barber added three RBIs.

Whitehall (2-0, 4-2) hosted North Warren on Wednesday, after this edition had already gone to press. The Railroaders will also host Hartford tomorrow, first pitch is scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
