With four spots up for election and a new budget looming the Granville Board of Education had a quiet and quick meeting Monday evening.

The meeting went quickly as the board approved the budget to be voted on this Tuesday. The longest discussion at the meeting was when the board voted on advisors, elementary advisors, coaches, instructional leaders at the elementary school and secondary schools, staff for the Jump Start Summer Program, non-instructional substitutes, and both instructional and non-instructional appointments.

The board went into executive session to discuss a few of the people listed for those positions before coming out of session and approving all of them, according to the secretary for the superintendent Connie Resetar.

Board member Dan Nelson had questions about safety concerns for students when Susan Kenyon, the school’s ski and snowboard club advisor in regards to safety concerns.

“Someone needs to drive the van and ride the busses,” said Nelson adding he has concerns over who would watch the students if Kenyon had to bring someone to the hospital.

“For safety purposes I think Dan has a point,” board member Audrey Hicks said.

Board members said that Kenyon normally has an un-paid assistant and the board voted and agreed to look into it again at a later date.
