New York State FFA 2014-2015 vice-president Seth Browe, was elected to be the 2015-2016 District 3 FFA President at a recent FFA convention.
The Granville FFA Chapter as well as 95 other New York State FFA Chapters and 1100 FFA members from across the state attended the 90th annual New York State FFA Convention.
The convention, which ran from May 14 to May 16 was held at SUNY Morrisville. Granville members attended different workshops and competed alongside other state FFA members in various Career Development Events (CDEs). The CDEs that Granville took part in were Tool Identification, Ag. Sales, Farm Business Management (FBM) Senior Quiz Bowl and Discussion Meet.
In the Senior Agricultural Quiz Bowl CDE, a team comprised of Brooke Stanley, Lauren Bucciero, Avery Roberts and Zoë Paige placed first. In the Farm Business Management CDE, Granville’s team of Stanley, Cook, Roberts and Paige placed third in the state.
Three of the four members also brought home medals for ranking in the individual Farm Business Management Examination top ten. Paige took second individually, with Cook in fifth and Stanley in eighth. Abigail Adams placed third in the Discussion Meet.
Granville FFA members who attended the convention were Jake Vladyka, Hannah Jones, Drew McEachron, Brad McEachron, Sierra Ricks, Browe, Brandon Thomas, Kathryn Dennison, Mackenzie Aldous, Mike Martin and Lauren Quick.
Aside from their CDE placements, Granville Chapter’s 2014-2015 Secretary, Stanley, submitted her Secretary’s Book for examination and placed first in New York State.
Granville High School officials such as Principal Camille Harrelson, Barbara Byrtus, Crystal Everdyke and others all sent back emails congratulating Wheeler and the FFA chapter on the results of the convention.
