It’s ‘Bloom Thyme’ again

The Slate Valley Garden Club’s annual Bloom Thyme sale returns this year, with a new location and a variety of award-winning plants for sale.

“We’ll be featuring plants from gardens that won the beautification award,” said Joan Post, club member and event organizer.

There will be a large selection of hostas grown in the Post Office garden, as well as plants from the Indian River Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, she said.

Other items for sale are donated by the club members from their very own gardens.

Herbs, bulbs, garden and house plants will be available, along with magazines, cook books and raffle tickets.

The sale will be conducted at Veterans Park, at Quaker and Main streets.

The new venue became necessary as the Pember Library and Museum will now conduct weekly book sales. Previously, the two agencies held one large sale jointly.

Post said the park is the perfect spot to showcase the plants, with a glorious Douglas fir as the backdrop.

“It was planted by the club 40 years ago,” she said of the tree.

The sale runs July 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and July 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
