Ride to benefit veterans

When the bikers hit the road for the third annual ride to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project hosted by American Legion Riders Post 323, they’ll be participating in a uniquely long ride.

“We wanted to do something different,” said Bruce Chapman, post commander.

“It’s a beautiful ride through the hills of Vermont and New York,” he said of the chosen route, which covers nearly 150 miles.

The bikers will be stopping for rests along the way, at American Legion Posts in Vergennes, Vt., and Brandon, Vt.

The Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit agency offering a variety of programs, service and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following the events of 9/11.

The ride is set for Aug. 15. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and continues until the ride start time at 11 a.m.
The cost is $20 per bike or $35 per couple.

A chicken barbecue is included in the registration price. Raffles will also be conducted after the ride when participants return to the post at 10 Columbus St. in Granville.
