Back to school in Hartford

By Christina Scanlon

Teachers in the Hartford are headed back to school this week, while students across the district will join them for their first day Sept. 8.

New faces in the faculty this year are Jody Hyatt, elementary special education; Edward Rodriguez, high school special education; Chelsea Hall, high school math; Deena Lazore, long-term substitute for fourth grade, Rebecca Reynolds, teacher’s aide; and Kevin Lovely, head of building maintenance.

For parents with children in universal pre-kindergarten, there’s been a slight shift in drop-off and pick-up times.

For a.m. students, students start at 8 a.m. and are released at 10:45 a.m.

For p.m. students, the day runs from 11:30 a.m. until 2:15 p.m.

Superintendent Andy Cook said the district was able to fill all staff vacancies and is ready to start the new school year.
