Blood drive Friday

The Granville Rotary will sponsor its annual August Bloodmobile from 1 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, at the Granville Hook and Ladder Firehouse.
The organization has a goal of collecting at least 45 pints of blood and hopes to exceed that.
The bloodmobile is held in memory of deceased Rotarians to recognize the community service they performed and to meet the urgent needs of the Red Cross.
Donations through the Red Cross are down 8 percent over the past 11 weeks, resulting in 80,000 fewer donations than expected.
High school students over the age of 16 are encouraged to consider becoming a regular blood donor as part of their community service profile which can be useful when applying to colleges. If you are at least 16 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds, you are eligible. Parental permission is required and forms will be available at the firehouse or they can be mailed or emailed.
Also, if any high school juniors or seniors are interested in becoming a student recruitment coordinator, contact Roger Forando at 642-1289. College scholarships are available from the Red Cross for student coordinators.
Call 1-800-Red-Cross to schedule an appointment. All blood types are needed.
