Local Officals eye rail trail bridge by Christmas
Bridge project red tape breaks loose Granville officials say they now hope to have a Rail Trail Bridge in place before Christmas after final contract approvals recently came from New York state.
Still waiting for a meeting
The meeting has yet to happen. Whitehall Mayor Francis “Fra” Putorti and his Granville counterpart, Jay Niles, said in August they planned to meet together sometime after the Labor Day holiday to discuss the situation regarding monies owed to Whitehall.
Referendum on police coming?
The officers could remain the same, but the department could change hands. Whitehall Village Mayor Francis “Fra” Putorti said he is willing to put the matter of turning the duties of law enforcement in the village over to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
Villare hires firm for sewer work
The Whitehall village board reversed a decision on Friday in order to be in a better position to get federal money.
