Mildred “Mille” (Greene) Perkins, 80

 

Manchester Center, Vt. – Mildred “Millie” (Greene) Perkins passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2008 at Albany Medical Center with family by her side.  She was 80.

She was born June 16, 1927 in Granville, the daughter of Harris and Ethel (Maranville) Greene. 

Millie grew up in the Bennington/Manchester area. She married Vinton O. Perkins of Rupert, Vt., on May 24, 1947. Millie became an accomplished seamstress, delighting family and friends throughout the years with creations from baby clothes to wedding gowns. She was an avid bowler and bingo player for many years. Millie also worked for the Indian River Adult home, and later at the Vermont Country Store for over fifteen years.

Millie is predeceased by her husband. Survivors include her brother, Walter (Smokey) Greene of Glens Falls, and her sister, Annie Goodnow of East Swanzy, N.H.; three daughters, Cheryl Lurvey of Granville, Sharon Bushee of Manchester, Vt., and Sheila Kutchukian of East Dorset, Vt.  Also surviving are her nine grandchildren; Pamela of Hartford, Karla of Auburn, Maine, Vinton of Granville, Teresa of West Springfield, Mass., Clinton of West Pawlet, Vt., Vinny of West Pawlet, Vt., Anna-Marie of Londonderry, Vt., Nichol of West Pawlet, Vt., and John Curtis of West Springfield, Mass. She also had 6 great-grandchildren; Heather, Kelsey, Kathleen, Carlene, Brianna, and Victoria.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday, May 31, at 10 a.m. at St Francis Cabrini Church in West Pawlet, Vt., with the Rev. Thomas Zelker presiding. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Salem.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church Street, Granville, N.Y.
