Floyd E. “Junior” Casey, 66

Floyd E. “Junior” Casey, age 66, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., surrounded by his loving family — his wife, Kathleen, his loving daughter Kristi and his precious granddaughter Paige Elizabeth.
Junior was born on May 2, 1944, in Pawlet, Vt., the son of Floyd Edward Casey Sr. and Clara (Tobin) Casey. Junior was one of 13 children.
Junior and Kathleen (Charron) were married at St. Mary’s Church in Granville on July 11, 1970. They renewed their vows on July 9, 1995, on the occasion of their 25th anniversary. They recently celebrated their 40th anniversary.
Junior loved to travel, making many trips to Hampton Beach, Pennsylvania Amish country, Orlando, Daytona Beach, and Hawaii. He especially loved Bulwagga Bay where he spent weekends.
In the 1970s Junior was very much into stock car racing. He raced a mini stock at Lebanon Valley and in the 1980s-90s he raced in the pro stock and modified divisions at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta and Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, Vt. He had a win on the asphalt at Malta in 1991.
Junior also loved horse racing. His horse Graylin Becalmed raced at Saratoga Harness Track. Up until three weeks ago he cared for his horse at his barn “Green Acres” in Comstock. He loved animals, especially his white cat at the barn “Buddy.” He also had fond feelings for his dog “Cloey.”
Other activities of Junior’s included bowling at Granville Lanes as well as other houses throughout the area. He had occasions of qualifying and being on “TV Tournament Time.” Last but not least there was bingo. He even had an opportunity on Tuesdays at Dartmouth-Hitchcock to play bingo.
Junior worked at the Kelly Sawmill in the 1960s. Then he was hired by the village of Granville Department of Public Works where he was employed for the next 30 years. He retired in 2000 to take up the jobs of tending the horses, bringing his wife and colleagues lunch, of course, bowling and most of all bingo.
Junior loved being with his wife and daughter, attending carnivals, fairs and such. He especially looked forward to time with his granddaughter.
He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Mary Wood and Linda Sloan, and four brothers, Dick, Lloyd, Claude and Doug Casey.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; daughter Kristi and granddaughter Paige. He is also survived by his siblings, Adrian Casey and his wife, Sue, of Granville, Stanley Casey of Hampton, Doris Carrera and her husband, Louie, of Granville, Lula Hoard and her husband, Frank, of Manchester, Betty Perkins of Greenwich and Bonnie Dufford and her husband Dave of Comstock. Junior is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Burial was in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Middle Granville.
