Everett C. “Sam” Corey, 62

Everett C. “Sam” Corey, 62, of Hampton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family following a long illness. Sam had a great sense of humor that will be missed by all that knew him. If you asked Sam, he would have said, “I went to be with the aliens.”

He was born on Nov. 28, 1948, in Granville, the son of John C. Corey and Marjorie Wilma (Stevens) Corey.

Some of his proudest accomplishments were receiving a gold plaque from the state of Nevada in honor of his work and renovation Donald Trump’s personal suite in New York City.

Sam loved to travel throughout his life and had the privilege of seeing and living in places that people only dream of.

Sam’s hobbies included fishing and hiking in Central and South America, as well as Canada with his best friend Michael Darius, with whom he loved vacationing at Michael’s home in Virginia. He also loved spending time on Lake Champlain fishing with Zack Martel.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Michael Corey, and his sister, Mitzy Corey.

Survivors include his children, Malissa and her husband, Julian Perez-Mendez, Everett Corey, Penny and her husband, Owen Lavin, all of Whitehall, Michael Corey of Hudson, Grant, Lucas, and Miranda Corey of Birmingham, Ala.; a grandson, Scott and his wife, Elaine Sabo, of Yellowstone National Park, Wyo.; a granddaughter, Connor McKee of Whitehall; a brother, Edward “Spud” Corey of Whitehall; a cousin, John Vouldry and his wife, Betty, of Granville; three nieces, Wendy (Corey) White and her husband, Bill, of Glens Falls, Patricia Corey of Glens Falls, and Vera Corey of Whitehall. Sam’s wishes were to be cremated and there be no calling hours or services.

The family suggests that contributions in his memory be made to the National Kidney Foundation 30 E. 33rd St., New York, N.Y. 10016 or visit www.kidney.org.
