The Slate Valley Museum will host its annual dinner and silent auction fundraiser in Poultney, Vt., at Lake St. Catherine Country Club on Monday, Aug. 27.

Always known for unique items, this year’s auction will highlight artistic pieces created by “First Friday in Granville” artists as well as gift certificates from local venues and locally crafted gifts and products.

Included in this year’s silent auction are pieces by Victoria Whitney, Ellen Faber, Patricia Bridges, and Stacie Mincher as well as products from Hick’s Apple Orchard, Telescope Casual Furniture, Curtis Lumber, Manchester Wood, Earth and Time, New England Farms, Vermont Confectionary and gift cards from many of the area’s best restaurants, and businesses including Dorset Theater Festival, Hubbard Hall, Adirondack Museum and Wing Clydesdales as well as many others.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and is $35 per person, including tax and gratuity. It is limited to 85 guests. The meal will be a choice of brisket of beef, Champagne chicken or shrimp stuffed sole with garden salad, vegetables, bread, dessert and coffee. There will be a cash bar.

Proceeds from this years’ event will support SVM’s operations for the year.

The evening begins with the silent auction, featuring more than 60 items donated by area businesses and community members. Among this year’s selection are scenic boat cruises and wagon rides, romantic dinners, golf, horseback riding, and gift certificates to an array of restaurants and entertainment venues.

Attendees will enjoy entertainment provided by Green Mountain College. Celtic musical selections on both the guitar and violin by two wonderful local folk musicians will reflect back on the Slate Valley’s Irish heritage and connection with the slate industry of Ireland.
