Soccer wins first game in three years

For the first time in three years, the Granville boys soccer team won a game Monday night, said coach Daniel Brayton. Playing under the lights, Gabe Pratt scored the game’s only goal against Arlington in the forth minute of the first half. Ricky Prevost assisted the play with a long run and a through pass to Pratt. Pratt’s first shot was deflected into the post, but he put away the rebound. The rest of the game was closely matched, back and forth. Arlington outshot Granville, but Phil Hicks earned the shutout. Arlington applied pressure during the last 10 minutes, but the Horde held them back.

Earlier, the team dropped a 6-0 game to Tamarac at home on Oct. 5. It was a close, well-contested game in the first half, with Tamarac scoring only once, but Casey Boswell had a strong second half with five goals. Granville’s Phil Hicks was strong in goal, making 16 saves.

The Granville boys soccer team took a 9-0 loss at home to Hoosick Falls on Wednesday, Oct. 3, dropping them to last place in the league.

Hoosick Falls had a strong start with two quick goals at the beginning of the game and didn’t let off the offensive pressure until after the first half. Granville’s Phil Hicks made 14 saves in the goal.
