Softball trio recognized by league

A trio of Whitehall softball players were lauded by opposing coaches in league all-star voting last month.

Seniors Brittney Putorti, Victoria Christian and Paxton Peterson were all honored for their play on the field this season.

Putorti was named a first-team Adirondack All Star. An overpowering pitcher, Putorti was on the mound for every inning the Railroaders played and emerged as an offensive force in the middle of the lineup.

Her battery mate, Christian was selected to the All-East Division team for her play behind the plate. Her defense and a knack for limiting the ability of opposing teams to steal bases and she was a solid contributor at the top of the lineup.

Peterson received honorable mention for her play at second base. Peterson was perhaps the team’s most improved player and was an offensive sparkplug with her speed and ability to make contact.
