Reading program offered at library

Dig Into Reading is the theme for the summer reading program that will be held at the Whitehall Library.

Children are asked to stop in the library this week to register. They will be able to sign up for the program that is geared towards their specific age group.

Pre-school through grade 2 will meet with Kathi Ripley at the library for a story and craft hour at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays July 16 through August 13.

For the older children, Karen Gordon will give packets to students with activities to do and a reading log to keep track of books read throughout the summer. A contract will also be signed by each child setting a goal for the number of books read. Prizes will be awarded to those who meet or surpass their goal.

A special puppet show/workshop will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 22, at Whitehall Elementary School for all registered children. Parent must register their child at the library no later than July 5.

For more information, please contact Kathi or Karen at 499-1366 during library hours.
