Enerjazz to perform Friday

Concert Preview-Enerjazz bwThe sounds of Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, and others will fill the air in Riverside Veterans Memorial Park at 7 p.m. on Friday evening, Aug. 16, as Enerjazz performs as part of the Music in the Park summer concert series.

The group, which describes itself as Vermont’s high-energy big band, performs a variety of tunes made famous during the big band era as well as newer songs by contemporary artists such as Natalie Cole, Brian Setzer and Harry Connick Jr. The band carries a work book of nearly 150 songs they perform at concerts throughout the area.

Formed in 2008, the band is led by director Kent Baker, and includes 19 members, most from the Lakes Region of Vermont.

The band includes alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, trumpets, trombones, piano, guitars (bass and rhythm), drums and in some instances, vocal arrangements as well.

The concert will be the penultimate performance in the Whitehall Music in the Park summer concert series.

The Washington County Concert Band will perform. next Friday, Aug. 23, in what is the last concert of the season.

All performances are held at 7 p.m. and admission is free. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to sit upon.

The Music in the Park concert series is made possible by donations and contributions from local businesses and organizations including the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council.
