Lawrence H. Jones, 81

Lawrence H. Jones, 81, of North Williams Street, passed away on Nov. 20, at the Fulton Center for Rehab in Johnstown, following a short illness.

He was born on April 17, 1932 in Hampton, the son of the late William and Anna (Mead) Jones.

Larry was a member of the Whitehall Elk’s Lodge #1491. He enjoyed spending time at the Lodge with his friends and they had a special seat for him and he always pulled the tickets for the weekly drawings.

He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a wonderful father and grandfather. On a nice day, you could always find him sitting in front of his house.

Larry retired from Telescope Folding Furniture in Granville after 30 years and also worked at Kingsley’s Garage in Whitehall.

He is predeceased by his wife, Mable (Ablett) Jones; two brothers, William Jones and Richard Jones and two sisters, Eleanor Moyer and Rose Moyer.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Jones Chaplin and her husband, Gary of Dresden; a son, Hermie Lawrence Jones and daughter-in-law Patricia Ruby of Whitehall; and daughter, Lisa Jones Rozell and her husband, Jesse of Whitehall; eight grandchildren, Gary Chaplin and his companion, Barb Rehm of Whitehall,  Jayson Chaplin and his companion, Carla Bennet of Whitehall and Matthew Chaplin of Whitehall, Gregg Jones of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jerrick Jones and his fiancé’, Sara Brown of Whitehall, Allison Jones and fiancé, Nathaniel Persons of Boulder, Colo., Cortney Rozell of, Fairlawn, N.J. and Jordan Rozell and his companion, Paige Wood of Albany; seven great grandchildren, Jacob Chaplin, Paige Chaplin, Fawn Chaplin, Parker Gugliotta, Chauan Jones, Lyla Jones and Ryder Persons; three sisters, Irene Campney of Middle Granville, Lorraine Vaughn of Granville and Janet Hayes and her husband, Francis of Poultney, Vt.; his friends at the Elk’s Club; his special friends, Orson Kinsley and Michael Lamphere and his close friends and neighbor, Abe and Diane Davis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends may call at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc, 46 Williams Street, Whitehall on Wednesday, Nov. 27, from 4 to 6 p.m..  The B. P. O. E. Lodge #1491 will conduct a Lodge of Sorrow at 5:45 PM.

Following the service, family and friends are invited to a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Elk’s Lodge, #1491 in Whitehall.
