Longtin shows his skills

The Whitehall Junior Shooting Program completed its 3rd week with 26 youths on hand for the training.Jr. Rifle Lukas Longtin

Many of the shooters are beginning to show real progress and are moving up in their level of training. At least six of the juniors are involved in competition in the Tri County Rifle League against some of the top shooters in the area, and holding their own.

Whitehall and Hartford stand 1st and 2nd in the league. Joe DeLorme shot 197 to make the Whitehall team while Alyssa Wicks shot 196 for Hartford. Wicks, a sophomore at Hartford Central School, had never shot above 181 in competition but last week she put it all together to land a spot among the big guns of the league.

The training sessions will continue this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Whitehall Range located at 2 Hollister Rd. in the Town of Whitehall. Dick McMore is the club’s Junior Shooting Chairman. Jason Pratt, Jim McGinnis, Doug Wilson, Rick DeLorme, John Hollister and Jim Lafayette are also assisting.
