Concert to benefit Haynes House

The music department at Granville High School will lend a helping hand to a local charitable organization Solos concert bwnext week.

The department will host a Solos concert next Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. in benefit of the Haynes House of Hope.

The concert will showcase the talents of the high school’s music students.

Tim Patrick, a music teacher at the high school, said the performance should be dynamic and will feature students who have been honing their skills since middle school and have extensive performance experience, as well as students that, while talented, have not previously performed solo in front of a large audience.

“It’s a very nice concert,” Patrick said.

The concert will consist primarily of singing and performers will be accompanied by band students on the piano and guitar. Bach and Beethoven, among others, will be featured heavily in the concert.

Concert goers are encouraged to bring items to donate to the comfort care facility.

Items that in need are: copy paper, facial tissue, rice, coffee, sugar packets, Clorox wipes, Price Chopper gift cards, baby wipes, Staples gift cards, paper plates, gravy packets, dishwasher soaps and laundry detergent (unscented), garbage bags (tall kitchen) and white vinegar.

Additional items in need are listed on the facility’s website at www.thehayneshouseofhope.org.

The Haynes House of Hope, located at 7187 State Route 149, is a comfort care home for the terminally ill and their families. The facility is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dependent on donations, grants, fundraisers and volunteers.
